_SENSUOUS CURVES

They are too beautiful to eat but is it humanly possible not to give in those gorgeous chocolate artworks by architect Oscar Niemeyer

_Neo design for Information Technology

Who said that IT websites and corporate identity have to be ugly? Take a look at the website of Neolab located in Slovenia. Neolab is  IT company specializing in building information systems.

It’s a relatively clean and simple design that is enhanced by the adorable whimsical half-animals half-pixels. They do not take away the professionalism of this company. Au contraire. If I was looking for an IT company, other things being equal, I would take a second look at their services. Isn’t that the first thing that marketing communications is supposed to do: attract and interest prospects.

_When data + design make beautiful babies

I am clearly in love with art, design and beautiful things. I often shout it on roof tops. :) However it seems that I am also a closet geek and I am coming out now: I love data and numbers too. Thankfully, today, some very creative folks have combined data and design, transforming them into stunning infographics: the art of making something as dry and straight as numbers look good! Beautiful! I particularly like those of the GOOD magazine. Fast company has cool ones too.

_Glamour from another era

Before Tom Ford, there was Valentino. His dresses are glorious. When I think of Valentino, I immediately see Maria Callas, his favourite muse. Glamour from another era. The Queensland Art Gallery in Brisbane, Australia, is presenting Up Late | Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future. I hope that this will be a travelling exhibit because I don’t think that I am travelling to Australia this year… :(

_Not shocking anymore

United Colors of Benetton was once the bad boy of advertising, launching campaigns that shocked the world. Today, they seem very tame in compared to what we are exposed to. We are getting tougher… or more blasé.

See all the campaigns on the United Colors of Bennetton website.

_Meat Market

Speaking of unsettling images of the human body, I was a little shocked by the most recent stunt staged by PETA. I don’t eat meat principally because I love animals too much. But I still find it unsettling that PETA had to stage this campaign to make their point heard. I’d rather see Pamela Anderson’s fake boobs than this… Is this art? Or senseless provocation? Will someone stop eating meat just because he sees this?

_The human body in all its glorious beauty

Looking at Robert Therrien‘s oversized furniture reminded me of Ron Mueck, whose sculptures of the human body are mind-blowing. His sculptures meticulously reproduce the very small details of the human body, but play with scale to create unsettling but fascinating visual images. I saw his Real Life Exhibit at the National Art Gallery of Canada in 2008: absolutely unforgettable!

_Honey, I shrunk the kids

Euh… actually I blew up the furniture. This is something that artist Robert Therrien could have said to his significant other. He design oversized furniture for giants or at last for large exhibition spaces.

If you are a shopaholic, stay away from these credit cards. They are way too beautiful for our own good. via Commarts.
